DAILY ITINERARY


DAY 1 - DEPART USA TO ROME

April 13, 2020

Our pilgrimage starts as we depart with a flight to Rome, Italy.

DAY 2 - ROME

April 14, 2020

We arrive in the Eternal City and are greeted by our tour escort. Transfer to the hotel for check in, dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 - ROME PAPAL AUDIENCE - BASILICAS

April 15, 2020

Early this morning we are transferred to St. Peter’s Square where we are blessed by the Holy Father during the Papal Audience. We then drive to the city center to enjoy time at leisure for lunch at the Trevi Fountain. Hop on the bus and drive to the Basilica of St John in Lateran which houses a fragment of the table on which Jesus consumed his last supper. From there we continue to the Basilica of St. Mary Major. The crypt is built to resemble the cave of the Nativity in Bethlehem and here there is a reliquary containing part of the Holy Crib in which our Lord Jesus Christ once lay – We celebrate Mass – Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4 - VATICAN - SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO

April 16, 2020

In the morning we check out of the hotel and drive to the the Vatican Museum, a group of impressive edifices with hundreds of galleries filled with art treasures. We’ll cover the Gallery of Tapestries, the Raphael Rooms and the most overwhelming Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo’s masterpiece, with its restored mural of the Last Judgement. From the Sistine Chapel we return to the Basilica to explore the largest church in Christendom built on the site where St. Peter was martyred. Unsurpassed in beauty, a monument to the long history of the Catholic Church to which pilgrims come from a round the world, St Peter's is the grandest of the world's churches. Break for lunch. We depart for a long trip to reach the village of San Giovanni Rotondo in time to celebrate our daily Mass in the chapel at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 5 - SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO - LANCIANO - ASSISI

April 17, 2020

After breakfast, we Celebrate Mass in the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Padre Pio lived and afterwards hear about his life and works from the Franciscan friars. Then visit the institutions he helped build and the other places associated to St Pio. After lunch we drive approx 3 hours to reach Lanciano, and visit the Church of Eucharistic Miracle. Continue to Assisi and check in at the hotel, dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 - ASSISI

April 18, 2020

After breakfast, we start our guided tour to the Basilica of St. Clare, the first and most important heroine of the Franciscan movement, view her remains and see the miraculous Crucifix- Walk down through the medieval streets, passing by the church of San Rufino, the Cathedral of Assisi, dedicated to “the other saint “, St Rufino – Continue way down to reach the Basilica of St. Francis. Our local guide will take us to explore the Basilica complex, which is actually composed of two churches built one atop the other. Beneath both churches is the crypt that houses the tomb of St. Francis. Independent lunch- In the afternoon, we will visit the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Crowned by the magnificent dome designed by Alessi, this great Basilica was built in 1569. It enclosed the shrine of the "Porziuncola" or the Little Portion Chapel around which thte first Franciscan community was centered, the place where Clare received the habit from Francis, and the Capella Del Transito, which marks the spot where the Saint died. Transfer to the hotel with dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 - ASSISI - PISA - NICE

April 19, 2020

We depart Assisi to Pisa to see the monuments of Pizza dei Miracoli: Duomo, celebrate Mass and Baptistery. Some time at leisure for lunch, In the afternoon, our motor coach proceed towards the border with France. Our last destination in Nice, where we spend the night.

DAY 8 - NICE - AVIGNON - LOURDES

April 20, 2020

Depart Nice after breakfast. We drive through the Provence region and for a while also along the scenic French Riviera. On the way we stop to enjoy free time in Avignon. This city is famous to have been the Papal residence for almost 70 years. We can visit the popes palace, have lunch and celebrate Mass, before continuing our trip to Lourdes. Upon arrival we check in, and after dinner we can join the candlelight procession.

DAY 9 - LOURDES

April 21, 2020

We spend the day in Lourdes - We will visit the the Grotto of Massabielle. Where Our Lady first appeared to Bernadette in 1858, and announced herself as "The Immaculate Conception." Throughout the day in Lourdes, we will have the opportunity to attend Mass at the Grotto, where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette; watch a video presentation that explains in detail, the story of Lourdes; drink water from the miraculous spring that has healed many and submerge ourselves in the healing baths. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to experience Christ's unconditional love, as you meditate upon the "life size" Stations of the Cross that overlook the Grotto of Massabielle. We will also walk in and meditate upon the footsteps of St. Bernadette. Our group will have the opportunity to see Boly Mill, the birthplace of St. Bernadette, and the "Cachot," an abandoned prison where Bernadette's impoverished family lived. Each evening following dinner, we will have an opportunity to attend the candlelight procession and the Rosary, before a restful overnight.

DAY 10
LOURDES - BURGOS

April 22, 2020

This morning we depart Lourdes and drive towards north of Spain to reach the city of Burgos - Upon arrival we check in at our hotel and the walk to visit the –UNESCO-listed Cathedral of Burgos, a masterpiece of Spanish Gothic architecture. The profusion of sculptural decoration and grandiose proportions make this cathedral one of the most impressive in Spain and the third largest after the cathedrals of Seville and Toledo. Built from white limestone, the cathedral is renowned for its elegance and sense of harmony. Celebrate Mass. Return to the hotel and dinner – Overnight in Burgos.

DAY 11 - BURGOS - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

April 23, 2020

After breakfast we depart Burgos to Santiago the Compostela. We will reach the city centre where we visit the Cathedral of Santiago, which is one of the finest architectural examples in Europe as it encompasses Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque styles. Additionally, the Cathedral contains numerous and valuable pieces of art that truly captivate the eye. Upon entering the Cathedral, tradition will lead, as you will hug the dazzling statue of St. James. Following this intimate embrace, you will descent into the crypt where the Patron Saint of Pilgrims' relics are kept- Celebrate Mass - Balance of the afternoon is at our leisure to enjoy the festive atmosphere of this high spiritual pilgrimages centre. Dinner at our hotel and overnight.

DAY 12 - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - SANTAREM - FATIMA April 24, 2020

Breakfast at the hotel and then we depart for Portugal. A drive to reach Santarem where we will celebrate Mass at the Eucharistic miracle church. Continue to Fatima where we will check in and overnight.

DAY 13 - FATIMA

April 25, 2020

We spend the day in Fatima. Today will surely be a memorable experience, as we pray and meditate upon one of Our Blessed Mother's apparition sites. We will visit the Little Chapel of the Apparitions. Continue with a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary. This Sacred space contains the tombs of St. Francisco, St. Jacinta, and Sister Lucia. View the monument that commemorates the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the square. Visit the Museum with the exhibition: Fatima: Light and Peace. Continue with a visit to the Holy Trinity Basilica. After free time for lunch, we will experience Christ's unconditional love by participating in the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra. The "Sacred Way" marks the path taken by the shepherd children of Fatima to their first apparition with Our Lady. It is composed of fifteen small chapels in commemoration of the Passion of Our Lord. The fifteenth station, the Resurrection, can be found close to the Chapel of Calvary, dedicated to St. Stephen, King of Hungary. The day ends with a visit to Valinhos, the site of Our Lady's August 1917 apparition and the first and third apparition of the Angel. Your night will conclude with private devotions, and a candlelight procession, requested by Our Lady (1917). Enjoy dinner and a comfortable night's rest in Fatima .

DAY 14 - RETURN TO USA FROM LISBON AIRPORT

April 26, 2020

Following breakfast early this morning we are transferred to Lisbon’s airport to check in for our flight home.
